What's RubMarine for? — This marine plastic dressing brings unpainted plastics and rubber on board back to a satin-matte look, cuts down how fast they re-soil and keeps a dry, non-greasy feel – spot-on for consoles, trims, seals and instrument housings once they're clean.
THE FINISHER RubMarine plastic care is the targeted conditioning step for unpainted boat plastics and rubber parts. After a pre-clean with AllWays and a wash with CleanMarine, RubMarine lays down an ultra-thin dressing film that calms textured parts visually, evens out the colour depth and keeps the surface dry to the touch. Spot-on for consoles, Rub Rails, seals, hatch frames and instrument housings – no greasy shine, no smearing.
Plastic care on board needs a finish that looks fresh but never turns slippery or greasy. RubMarine works as a finely dosed polymer emulsion: it smooths the microtexture of unpainted plastics and rubber, dries to a satin matte and leaves a natural grip. Textured areas (instrument hoods, hatch frames) look more even without that "smeared-on" appearance. Because no oily layer stays behind, the surface grabs less dust and harbour haze – the dressing stays practical day-to-day, even with frequent handling.
Application comes down to three steps: clean thoroughly (AllWays/CleanMarine), let it dry fully, then lay RubMarine down thin with an applicator or microfibre cloth. Spread it evenly in small sections, let it flash off for 1–2 minutes and buff to a satin matte with a fresh side of the cloth. Pick up any excess on edges and screw feet straight away. Don't leave dressing sitting on gelcoat overhangs, glass or polycarbonate – wipe residue off right away. Floors, steps and anti-slip decks stay off-limits so nothing turns slippery. Work in the shade and keep off hot surfaces.
Routine & compatibility: RubMarine is the care step for unpainted plastics and rubber. Vinyl upholstery you condition separately with VinylGuard; visible surfaces you clean with SeaYou. Smooth gelcoat and paint areas you protect – kept apart from the RubMarine zones – with BodyGuard for easy hydrophobic upkeep. Depending on use (sun, swimming, harbour life) you refresh RubMarine thin every 4–8 weeks. In between, a damp cloth is often enough, since salt and fingerprints cling less.
On unpainted boat plastics and rubber parts: consoles, Rub Rails, seals, instrument hoods, hatch frames. Not on the deck, walkways or anti-slip zones.
No. The finish is satin-matte and dry to the grip. Lay it on thin, let it flash off briefly and buff it out – the feel stays natural.
Loosen salt and harbour grime with AllWays, wash with CleanMarine and let it dry fully. Then lay RubMarine on thin and buff it clean.
RubMarine is for unpainted plastics and rubber. VinylGuard dresses marine vinyl (seat benches/panels) to a satin matte. The two work together but go on different materials.
Every 4–8 weeks depending on how hard it gets used. Refresh high-touch zones (entry points, consoles) sooner; work thin and don't "build up" layers.
