COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Mercedes-Benz: Original Standard Colour for Factory-Authentic Leather Repairs
What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Mercedes-Benz? — The perfectly matched standard leather colour allows for faithful colour refreshment and repairs to Mercedes-Benz leather, ensuring a consistently uniform, factory-typical finish.
COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is a precisely matched standard leather colour for the professional repair, refreshment, and recolouring of Mercedes-Benz leather interiors. The colours are based on original Mercedes-Benz colour samples and are formulated to blend harmoniously with existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door panels, and all pigmented smooth leather in the vehicle interior where colour accuracy and OEM appearance are crucial.
- Original Mercedes-Benz Colour Shades – Developed according to factory-close colour samples.
- For Repair & Refreshment – Ideal for abrasion, fading, and colour loss.
- Professional Finish – Optimal adhesion and uniform colour appearance.
💡 Practical Tip from Detailing1 Workshop: In our workshop, we often see the same problem with Mercedes-Benz detailing — colour loss on seat bolsters and steering wheels is covered with cheap care spray that doesn't last four weeks. With Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) dabbed onto a microfiber pad in 2–3 thin layers, dried for 30 min in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat Dull — the result lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory.
Prepare, Dab Thinly, Seal with Top Coat
Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is applied in 2–3 thin layers, dried for 30 minutes in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat. Thin layers last for years; thick layers crack.
Before applying the colour, the leather is cleaned with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deep cracks and abrasion marks are levelled with Filler or Super Filler and smoothed with 1000-grit sanding fleece. The Mercedes-Benz colour shades are then dabbed on with a microfiber pad, wiped with a soft brush, or, for large-area repairs, applied with a spray bottle.
After complete drying of at least 4 hours, it is sealed with Top Coat — Dull for a matte, original OEM look, Glossy for medium shine, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers approximately 8–10 m² of leather surface; a 250 ml bottle is sufficient for a complete pair of seats including the steering wheel. The same workflow works for all components from the seat cushion to the door panel to the centre armrest.
Pigmented Leather Yes, Natural Leather and Suede No
Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is suitable exclusively for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require other COLOURLOCK product lines.
The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, remains elastic, and accommodates leather movements without cracking. On natural leather or open-pored aniline leather, the colour penetrates the fibre unevenly and discolours the leather blotchy — here, Leather Fresh (Mercedes-Benz) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Mercedes-Benz), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it.
If colour accuracy to the original factory colour is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small spot (steering wheel abrasion, a single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Mercedes-Benz) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
For Detailers, Workshops, and Owners of Classic and Youngtimer Cars
Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is the professional choice for detailers, independent workshops, and ambitious owners who prioritise value retention and original Mercedes-Benz colour accuracy over quick care solutions.
For lease returns, used car detailing, and classic and youngtimer restorations, OEM colour accuracy determines value retention and selling price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, colour, seal) takes 4 hours including drying per component and delivers a result that lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory. One litre of Leather Colour costs about 30 cents per 100 ml of processed surface — workshop calculation including Top Coat is about 12 Euros per component.
For pure care routines without workshop tools, Leather Colour is overkill — there, Leather Fresh (Mercedes-Benz) is sufficient. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or individual cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Mercedes-Benz) are more economical. However, if you want to restore complete seat bolsters, steering wheels, or door panels and value original Mercedes-Benz colour accuracy, you cannot avoid the 1-litre bottle or the 250 ml container.

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Mercedes-Benz?
COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) is a water-based, elastic leather standard dye in original Mercedes-Benz shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recoloring pigmented smooth leather in vehicle interiors — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.
How do I apply Leather Colour (Mercedes-Benz) correctly?
First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with filler. Then, dab, wipe, or spray the Leather Colour thinly — 2–3 thin layers are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).
What is the difference to Leather Fresh?
Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, sealable with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the conditioning color cream (1L/100ml) for lighter touch-ups without extensive preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.
Do the colors really match Mercedes-Benz exactly?
The color shades are based on original Mercedes-Benz factory color samples. For heavily faded leather, we still recommend a color test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather darkens or fades over the years.
What are the most common mistakes we see in the workshop?
Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — paint won't adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks when drying. (3) Top coat sealing omitted — abrasion resistance under 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2–3 years.
Do I absolutely need a Top Coat?
Yes, for lasting abrasion resistance. Without a Top Coat, the color on seat bolsters and steering wheels will wear off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matte-original (OEM look), Glossy = medium shine, High Gloss = high shine.
