Saurer Quick Detailer mit Kalk-EX-Formel für Lack, Glas und Kunststoff

Koch-Chemie FSE (Finish Spray Exterior) is a quick detailer with an integrated lime-EX formula and a pH value of 2.5, which chemically dissolves limescale, water spots, and mineral deposits. The polymer wax it contains simultaneously leaves a streak-free high gloss – cleaning, caring for, and preserving in one step. For exterior paint, glass, and plastic; not suitable for vehicles with active ceramic sealant.

Spray onto a cool, dry exterior surface (paint, glass, plastic) or apply to a microfiber cloth - 2-3 sprays per panel are sufficient. Work in with a soft cloth, then buff with a dry second cloth. For stubborn limescale spots on glass, let sit for 30-60 seconds. Do not use on hot surfaces, in the interior, or on ceramic coatings. Store frost-free at 5–25 °C (41–77 °F).

Chemically Remove Limescale with Koch-Chemie FSE

What is Koch-Chemie FSE? A quick detailer with an acidic limescale-EX formula (pH 2.5) that removes limescale deposits, water spots, and mineral residues on paint, glass, and plastic in one step, while also sealing with polymer wax. Not suitable for vehicles with active ceramic coatings or fresh wax protection.

Koch-Chemie FSE (Finish Spray Exterior) is a quick detailer from Koch-Chemie with an integrated limescale-EX formula that chemically dissolves mineral deposits such as limescale, water spots, and stubborn mineral residues on all exterior surfaces. The acidic formulation with a pH of 2.5 neutralizes basic lime compounds through a direct acid-base reaction, while a contained polymer wax simultaneously leaves behind gloss and a light protective film — both in a single step on paint, glass, and plastic.

Koch-Chemie FSE Finish Spray Exterior Quick Detailer with Limescale-EX
  • Limescale-EX chemically dissolves mineral deposits. The pH value of 2.5 neutralizes basic limescale — limescale spots dissolve without mechanical rubbing. 30–60 seconds of dwell time on stubborn areas is sufficient before working with a microfiber cloth. Normal wiping without an acidic component only moves limescale; FSE dissolves it.
  • Three tasks, one step. Koch-Chemie FSE cleans, cares for, and preserves simultaneously. The contained polymer wax leaves a streak-free high gloss with a light protective film after polishing, which temporarily slows down new dirt. No separate wax finish is necessary — the process is complete as soon as the second cloth has been wiped dry over the surface.
  • Universal on exterior surfaces — with clear limitations. FSE can be used without problems on exterior paint, glass, and plastic. Do not use on acid-sensitive materials such as certain matte paints, on freshly waxed or ceramic-coated vehicles, or on surfaces that have been exposed to direct sunlight. Check the temperature before starting.

Practical tip from Detailing1: Applying FSE after waxing is the most common mistake. The pH value of 2.5 doesn't just dissolve limescale — it also attacks waxes and polymer sealants. Correct order: First apply FSE specifically to limescale spots, polish dry, then wax or sealant. Those who regularly use FSE as a standard quick detailer on freshly sealed paint actively break down their LSP. Hardly any dealer explains this.

Apply Koch-Chemie FSE to a cold surface

Koch-Chemie Finish Spray Exterior only works reliably on cool, dry surfaces. On hot sheet metal after direct sunlight, the spray dries too quickly and leaves residues instead of removing them. Park the vehicle in the shade beforehand and wait five minutes. If the surface is still noticeably warm to the touch, do not start yet.

Spray directly onto the surface or into the microfiber cloth — 2–3 sprays per vehicle panel. FSE is supplied without a spray head; a pressure spray head like the Canyon CHS-3AN (available as a bundle option) makes application more even and prevents over-dosing. Work in with a soft microfiber cloth and polish with a dry second cloth. The two-cloth method prevents streaks because the first cloth picks up dirt and limescale, and the second only polishes.

For stubborn limescale spots on glass, allow 30–60 seconds to dwell before polishing. On paint, direct working without extra waiting time is sufficient. Glass surfaces particularly benefit: FSE removes water spots on windows that pH-neutral quick detailers do not dissolve. Normal sprays only visually displace limescale — the acidic limescale-EX formula chemically dissolves the mineral compound. On the rear window and side windows, the method works just as well as on the windshield.

Anyone who regularly washes in regions with very hard water knows the problem: even after careful drying, fine limescale residues remain. FSE should then be used immediately after drying — one spray onto the still slightly damp cloth is enough for entire vehicle panels. This prevents limescale from baking on and having to be removed more elaborately later. Especially on black and dark paints, limescale residues are immediately visible — here, application after every wash is worthwhile.

Koch-Chemie FSE application on car paint with microfiber cloth

It dissolves limescale. And your coating too.

The Koch-Chemie FSE Quick Detailer is the right product for vehicles without active protective sealing: It dissolves limescale, water spots, and mineral deposits on unsealed paint, glass, and plastic, and leaves behind gloss. This is its strength and the reason why it is popular with vehicle detailers and detailing workshops.

On vehicles with ceramic coatings or durable nano-coatings, it's a different story. The pH value of 2.5 can attack the cross-linking structure of SiO₂-based coatings and significantly shorten their lifespan. If you are maintaining an active ceramic coating, you should instead choose a pH-neutral coating-compatible quick detailer. If you only have wax protection or no sealant at all: FSE is the faster and more effective solution than a pH-neutral spray, which only displaces limescale rather than dissolving it.

Two other limitations of FSE: tar, bitumen spots, and insect residues do not react to acidic chemistry — for these, you need a solvent-based product. And for baked-on limescale spots that have already etched into the clear coat, FSE reaches its limits.

It reliably dissolves fresh mineral deposits, but not paint damage caused by limescale that has been left on for too long. In that case, a light polish is first necessary to repair the damage. Afterward, FSE reliably protects against new deposits during ongoing maintenance.

If you are unsure whether your vehicle has a sealant: Water beads on the paint after rain are a good sign of an active LSP. In that case, it is better to work with a pH-neutral quick detailer and use FSE specifically only on limescale spots on glass or plastic, where coatings are rarely applied.

Koch-Chemie FSE result limescale removed high gloss

FSE for paint without active sealant

The Koch-Chemie FSE is suitable for the everyday driver who regularly struggles with limescale, does not have a ceramic coating, and is looking for a quick detailer that actually dissolves limescale. Anyone living in a region with very hard water and frequently washing their car themselves will find FSE a tool that pH-neutral quick detailers structurally cannot replace.

In detailing operations, FSE is a classic for final cleaning after vehicle detailing: quickly applied, immediately polished, high gloss finished. The 10-liter and 200-liter containers enable cost-effective large-volume use. With a normal dosage of 2–3 sprays per vehicle panel, 1 liter is sufficient for around 40–60 applications on a mid-range car — which corresponds to a price well under 30 cents per application. For workshops that detail 10 to 20 vehicles daily, the 200-liter drum is the most economical option.

FSE is less suitable for vehicle owners with ceramic coatings or fresh wax protection who are looking for a general maintenance quick detailer. Also, anyone who primarily needs to remove tar or insect residues will come up empty-handed here — FSE is not a universal cleaner, but a limescale specialist with a care effect.

As a supplement to the limescale workflow, we recommend a refresh wax or a spray sealant after using FSE if the vehicle does not have an active LSP. FSE cleans and leaves a light polymer protection, but does not replace a complete sealant. If you want more durability after limescale treatment, complete the workflow with a spray sealant — the surface will then not only be free of limescale, but also protected.

The Detailing1 Insight: Many quick detailers promise limescale removal, but only deliver a pH-neutral gloss film that visually covers the limescale. FSE is one of the few quick detailers on the German market that uses true acid-base chemistry with a pH of 2.5 for limescale removal. The difference is visible: On heavily calcified windows, FSE removes water spots in one pass, for which other sprays need three or four attempts. This is not a marketing claim, but chemistry.

If you want to choose between Koch-Chemie FSE and the Koch-Chemie Quick Finish QF: The QF is pH-neutral and coating-safe, suitable for vehicles with active protection. FSE is the right choice if limescale is the main problem and no active coating is present. If limescale: FSE. If coating: QF. Both products have their place — it's about the right application, not the better product.

Frequently Asked Questions about Koch-Chemie FSE

What is Koch-Chemie FSE and what is it used for?

Koch-Chemie FSE (Finish Spray Exterior) is a quick detailer with an acidic lime-EX formula (pH 2.5) for all exterior surfaces of the vehicle. It chemically dissolves limescale, water spots, and mineral residues on paint, glass, and plastic, and simultaneously provides a high-gloss finish due to the polymer wax it contains. Cleans, cares for, and preserves in one step.

How do you properly apply Koch-Chemie FSE?

Spray FSE onto the cool, dry surface or directly onto a microfiber cloth – 2–3 sprays per panel are sufficient. Work it in with a soft microfiber cloth, then buff with a dry second cloth (two-cloth method). For stubborn limescale on glass, let it sit for 30–60 seconds. Do not apply on hot surfaces or in direct sunlight. FSE is supplied without a spray head.

What is the difference between Koch-Chemie FSE and Koch-Chemie Quick Finish QF?

FSE has an acidic pH of 2.5 and chemically dissolves limescale through its lime-EX formula — ideal for vehicles without active sealant and with limescale issues. Quick Finish QF is pH-neutral and coating-safe, suitable for vehicles with ceramic coating or fresh wax protection. If limescale is the main problem: FSE. If the coating needs care: QF.

Can I use Koch-Chemie FSE on a vehicle with a ceramic coating?

No — this is the most important limitation of FSE. The pH value of 2.5 can attack the cross-linking structure of SiO₂-based coatings and shorten their durability. Waxes and polymer sealants are also degraded by the acidic formula. Vehicles with ceramic coating or fresh wax need a pH-neutral coating-compatible quick detailer.

What happens if I apply Koch-Chemie FSE on hot surfaces?

On hot metal after direct sunlight, FSE dries too quickly and leaves residues instead of removing them. This is the most common application error. Move the vehicle into the shade beforehand and wait five minutes. If the surface is still noticeably warm to the touch, do not start yet. Cool, dry surfaces are a prerequisite for streak-free results.

How economical is Koch-Chemie FSE and how often should it be applied?

With 2–3 sprays per panel, 1 liter is sufficient for approximately 40–60 applications on a mid-range car — under 30 cents per application. The frequency of application depends on the water hardness: In regions with hard water, we recommend after every wash, otherwise every 2–4 weeks specifically on limescale areas. The 10-liter container is the most economical choice for regular users and workshops.

Application of Koch-Chemie FSE Finish Spray Exterior

Step-by-step to a streak-free, high-gloss finish

Park the vehicle in the shade and ensure that the surfaces are cool and dry. If applied to hot metal after sun exposure, the FSE will dry too quickly. If the surface is still warm to the touch, wait five minutes.

Spray the Koch-Chemie FSE directly onto the surface to be treated or apply 2-3 pumps into a microfiber cloth. For each vehicle panel (e.g., a door, a bonnet), 2-3 pumps are sufficient. Do not spray over a large area – even dosing yields better results than overdosing.

Work it in with a soft, clean microfiber cloth using circular movements. Immediately afterwards, polish with a second, dry microfiber cloth (two-cloth method). The first cloth absorbs dirt and limescale, while the second creates the streak-free, high-gloss finish.

For stubborn limescale stains on glass – especially on the windshield or side windows – spray the FSE and let it act for 30-60 seconds before polishing. The acidic Kalk-EX formula needs contact time for strong mineral deposits. On paint, direct application without extra waiting time is sufficient.

Notes: Do not use on ceramic coatings, freshly waxed surfaces, or acid-sensitive materials – the pH value of 2.5 attacks active protective layers. Do not use in the vehicle interior. Protective gloves recommended (H315/H319: slight skin and eye irritation possible). In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with water. Store frost-free at 5–25 °C, shelf life 24 months after production. The FSE is supplied without a spray head – Canyon CHS-3AN spray head available as a bundle option.
